Galatians 5:19-23
TRASH DAY! April 2009
It's trash day in our neighborhood. The big green cans and the small green recycling bins line the curbs. Today is the day to get rid of waste: Chicken bones from last night's dinner, peach pits, liner from the bird cage, junk mail, shredded credit card offers and more.
In the spirit realm it is also trash day! I see Holy Spirit trash trucks traveling the roads of our life. He stops where He sees the ones who have willingly chosen to put away from them all things that are either unnecessary or hindering their walk with the Lord.
Paul lists some of this trash very plainly in Galatians 5:19-21.
Read the Living Bible version below for an eye opening paraphrase.
"But when you follow your own wrong inclinations your lives will produce these evil results:(aka trash) impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry, spiritism(that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for your self, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that every one else is wrong except those in your own little group-and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the kingdom of God." WOW!
In the natural after the trash is picked up on Tuesdays there is no other truck that comes by later in the week to drop off good stuff. However when we put out our "fleshly trash" we are then in a position to be filled with more of the Holy Spirit. He drives up with His fruit truck and loads us up with good things. "But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control;" Galatians 5:22-23 (Read all of Galatians chapter five if you have time - good stuff)
Think on these things. Which would you rather have in your "house"; rotten trash or fresh fruit?
Have you enjoyed this Fresh Bread? Chew on it a while then ask the Holy Spirit to help you take out the trash. He loves to do just that. May you be encouraged in your journey today.
